Cheer our Sports Teams onto Victory!

Our St. William Athletic Program offers students an opportunity to gain experience in competitive sports.

Parents are involved as coaches and/or sit on the St. William Athletic Committee to provide input and guidance to help build up the program.  At times the committee will organize fundraisers to help purchase uniforms or equipment.

Last year the St. William Sports Athletic Committee applied for a grant from the Jordan Family Sports Foundation (no relation to Michael).  We requested a wide range of equipment and supplies for soccer, basketball and our physical education program, stipends for an athletic director and coaches, and funding to pay for practice space for our basketball teams.  In late spring we were notified that we had been approved for funding, and recently we learned that we will receive most of the equipment we requested, stipends for coaches, and funding to rent practice space.  This is an ongoing relationship with the Jordan Foundation, so we will receive additional support in future years.  Joanne Williams was the primary grant writer for this project—we appreciate all her hard work and the support of former athletic committee chair Adolpho DeLa Peña, new co-chair (with Joanne) Becky Segovia, and the rest of the committee members.

Soccer ballThe 2009 - 2010 soccer season has concluded with good results.  With fifteen teams in the Classic League, the Junior Varsity placed eleventh in regular season. JV lost for third place in the playoffs.  The Varsity placed fourth in regular season and lost in the first round of the playoffs.  Many thanks to all who supported the teams and came to games!

In the 2009 - 2010 basketball season finished with two first place teams, Junior Varsity Boys and Junior Varsity Girls.  The Varsity Boys placed second and the Varsity Girls were awarded a runner-up trophy for their efforts.

St. William School supports a policy that ensures all players on the team gain experience during competitive play.
